'MacGruber' is the Worst Movie of 2020
"MacGruber" becomes a victim of its own dull spoofs of a number of action flicks. It is not just the worst movie of 2020, it is one of the worst ever Hollywood movie I've ever seen to date.
Runners-up
Not far behind from being the worst movie of 2020 is the ultimately disappointing "The Last Airbender." This is followed by other dull offers including "The Killers" and "The Bounty Hunter."
A MacAwful Flick
"MacGruber" is a Saturday Night Live sketch featuring references from the classic action TV series MacGyver. It attempts to work as a "retro pastiche" to provide such nostalgic fun to the spirit of Eighties action movies. However, its lowbrow comedy merely brings in strings of scatological jokes that are all short of comedic ammo. With its long, dry stretches filled with incompetent humor, this dumb action comedy flick is nothing but annoying.
The script is so bad, the dialogues are horrible, the main character's acting is exasperating. Sitting through the entire film is such a stress. Enduring it is such a pain.
I would have walked out early on, if I didn't have to review it for work.
I couldn't even take those mindless growls and brainless comedy for the entire duration of this senseless movie. Worse, it doesn't even compensate on the technical department. Everything just seems so boring and unimaginative.
Amateur looking as it is, "MacGruber" neglects incorporating the kind of fun a sketch can actually be in movie format. It merely relies on the dim-witted schemes coming from overused clichés and formulaic performances. In short, there is nothing even halfway impressive in any aspect of its production. It doesn't have any of the essential elements that could at least elevate it into a mere watchable popcorn fare. Its crudely vulgar language and dim-witted lines completely fall flat.
"MacGruber" features an improper mix of farcical intentions and foul-mouthed lines chewed by actors and actresses in all their wordy lip services. Nothing grinds well outside this downright dumb flick's tiresome sketches and predictable plotting. The characters mainly say and do dumb things on camera without any kind of "movie flick x-factor" to at least allow the viewers to find some reason to keep watching. This disposable motion picture project is literally a throw away -- of time and money.
Finding something to laugh about is such a struggle for this dismal movie. It offers such an awful viewing experience.
