'Dark Knight' Mass Shooting Link Closes Schools
Classes in Narrows, Virginia, were suspended on Wednesday after an article named it as a possible mass shooting target. Further fueling rumors of a conspiracy surrounding Batman.
Mass shootings in Aurora, Colorado, and Sandy Hook, Connecticut, have put the entire nation on edge. Innocent lives of children and adults have been lost as we are forced to grapple with what to do about gun control in this nation to prevent these terrible events from ever happening again. But could there be a link between these tragedies that stem from Batman?
Officials in Giles County, Virginia, seem to think so as five public schools in the town of Narrows cancelled their classes on January 2. An article titled "The Next Shooting Massacre Target" posted on revelationnow.net claimed to have found a link between Christopher Nolan's latest trilogy of films centering on Batman and the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook elementary. The article in question has since been taken down, but not without alerting Giles County law enforcement to the perceived threat.
Latest reports pinpoint the rumor as originating from a scene in the latest Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises" where the character Commissioner Gordon names sites on a map "Sandy Hook" and "Narrows." Several news sites including the Hollywood Reporter have picked up the story, further leveraging panic in Narrows, Virginia, for its disturbing connection to the recent wave of mass shootings. Students returned to school on January 3rd with increased security without incident.
"Dark Knight Rises" is not the only time "Narrows" has been mentioned. It is a place within Christopher Nolan's Gotham that serves as the climactic setting for the showdown between Batman and Scarecrow's lethal release of fear toxin at the behest of Ra's Al Ghul in "Batman Begins." The same incident is also mentioned briefly in the following sequel "The Dark Knight."
Heightened tension in schools across the country is steadily becoming the norm, as parents can no longer feel safe letting their children learn in a safe environment or go to a movie.
