Top 5 GameCube Games
A look at the best GameCube games.
SoulCalibur 2
SoulCalibur 2 was popular on all the consoles of the generation. The GameCube though had something that the other games did not have and that is Link. If you were just a fan of Link that would not be much but in fact Link was really one of the best players to use. While it might not have done much more then the other consoles that does not take away from the fact that it was one of the best games on the console. It was the consoles and not the arcade that made the SoulCalibur franchise and the GameCube version is one reason that the consoles made the arcade game popular.
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Sunshine is considered by some to be the best Mario game. While Super Mario Sunshine may be from an older console many people like it better then the Wii Mario games. One thing that was great about Sunshine was the colors. Many games now you will notice are very dark and this was anything but dark. Sunshine was what you would expect from a modern Mario game it stuck with the basics but updated Mario for modern times.
Super Smash Brother Melee
Super Smash Brother Melee was one of the top sellers of the platform and with the popularity of the earlier Smash Brother game this game helped sale a few consoles and give the GameCube a more respectable third place finish for its generation.
Metroid Prime
Going from 2D to 3D can be a bad idea. Many good franchise's have learned this the hard way. Fortunately for Metroid it is a good 3D or 2D game. In terms of quality Metroid Prime was one of the best games of the system.
Zelda Twilight Princess
Zelda Twilight Princess was made for both the GameCube and the Wii. Obviously the Wii had slightly better graphics and power to run the game. However the GameCube versions of Zelda was better received by Zelda fans because it used a left handed Link instead of changing Link to being right handed like the Wii version. So the GameCube version is considered by some to be the more legitimate version.
The GameCube's lack of success might make you think that there were no good games for the system. The fact is there were some good game but there were not many. If all the GameCube games were of the same quality as these games then the GameCube would have sold much better.
