How to Set Up the Slingshot Effect to Lose Weight

Follow this step by set up slingshot effect to lose weight.

To do this, we'll be following what I call Macronutrient Rotation. In simple terms, during this first week, you'll basically be rotating the three major macronutrients (protein, fat and carbohydrates) in and out of your diet in very specific intervals by eating specific types of food. It may sound complex but the theory is simple.

The bulk of the first week is going to be low-carb eating.

This stabilizes blood sugar levels and burns up the stored glycogen in your body (which is usually a preferred fuel for your muscles). Eating low-carb also increases insulin sensitivity (which we're going to take huge advantage of as we move into the next phase of the program). If you ARE a meal plan type of person, don't worry! I will include some meal plans for the low carb days of the program to help you figure out what to eat on those if you're not sure.

On these two days, the training you'll be doing is going to get rid of stored glycogen very quickly and give your metabolism a boost.

The third day of the program is a quick switch to low-fat, higher-carb eating. Because this is a muscle-building program and not a straight-up fat loss program, we don't want the body to get too depleted and start breaking down muscle tissue. The higher-carb day breaks things up and starts to refill glycogen levels in the body. But the key here is that we're still keeping the calories down.

This isn't a "real" carb-loading day - it's a quick punch to keep your metabolism moving. It's also a complete day of rest.

On the fourth and fifth days, it's back to strict low-carb eating. On these two days, the training is designed to elicit a large lactic acid response, which will give you a surge of Growth Hormone. GH is more effective when insulin is not present - what better time to do it than when you're not eating carbs to get an insulin response! On the sixth day, we switch to only protein - no carbs or fats. The reason for this is that the body has been relying on fat for energy for most of this past week. By taking away dietary fat, only body fat is left. Also, eating only protein means a large drop in caloric intake.

We're really setting your body up for a big rebound with this day.

On the seventh day, we'll again switch. This time, you'll be eating only fruit. Nothing else. This is a zero-protein day to help set up the increased calorie and protein eating to come. It's also a great digestive system cleansing, which can really help with nutrient absorption when you start eating more again! I'll tell you more about the real muscle-building power of protein deprivation in the Nutrient Isolation section.

After that seventh day, we are ready to roll! The next day, you're going to immediately increase your caloric intake by a lot. You're also going to load up on protein (to take advantage of the previous days protein deprivation). Let me tell you, for the next few days, your body is going to be madly storing everything it can get it's hands on. So oblige it and feed the machine! You should see a substantial increase in body weight over the course of this week.
